Adult Education in Portugal

There are various qualification pathways in adult education in Portugal which, throughout life, enable adults to obtain a basic level school certification (4th, 6th or 9th grade), a secondary level certification (12th grade), or a post-secondary non-higher education qualification and/or a professional certification. These include the Recognition, Validation and Certification of Competences (RVCC), Adult Education and Training Courses (EFA), Modular Certified Training (FMC), and pathways for the completion of secondary education. It is also possible to obtain a qualification through assessment by an Assessment and Certification Commission (CAC) or through the recognition of foreign qualifications.

„Adult Education fosters skill development and lifelong individual empowerment, standing as an essential strategic investment. The Erasmus+ Programme strengthens the sector by ensuring equitable access and opportunities that elevate educational standards for all. The RIA-AE Network coordinates transnational cooperation to showcase the benefits of a robust adult education, turning collaboration into collective innovation. How could one country not invest in, participate in, and contribute to all of this?“
