The RIA-AE Network has published its second transnational report on the impact of the Erasmus+ Programme in adult education across Europe. The study draws on research from 21 countries and examines the programme’s accessibility, inclusiveness and impact on organisations, staff and adult learners. Particular attention is given to participation in democratic life, common values and civic engagement and to the impact of learner mobility.
The findings show that Erasmus+ strengthens learning offers, staff competences, international cooperation and organisational development. Adult learners benefit in areas such as self-confidence, practical and language skills, intercultural learning and social connection.
The report also highlights the contribution of Erasmus+ to European values, civic competences and community engagement, while noting that effects on direct political participation are less evident. At the same time, limited staff capacity, administrative complexity and financial constraints remain important barriers to participation.
The report concludes with recommendations to make Erasmus+ more accessible and inclusive, strengthen the sustainability and wider use of project results, and improve the links between research, practice and policy.
